NEW FOR 2022 SSOY points will now be accrued at ALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND NATIONAL COMPETITIONS. IT is the hope that this will encourage shooters to attend these matches and that match directors will try to obtain sponsors to also bring out larger fields.
THE TOP 3 POSITIONS IN STATE CHAMPION SHIPS WILL RECIEVE points.
1st place will receive .30 points toward ssoy
2nd will receive .20
3rd will receive .10
THE TOP 5 POSITIONS AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES WILL RECEIVE POINTS
1ST PLACE .50
2ND PLACE .40
3RD PLACE .30
4TH PLACE .20
5TH PLACE .10
BEGINNING IN 2013 SCORE SHOOTER OF THE YEAR standings will be calculated on a POINTS SYSTEM. POINTS WILL BE AWARDED for each match shot, 100 yd matches have their value, 200 yd matches have their value and GRAND AGG. will have its value. IN EFFECT ANYONE SHOOTING A GRAND AGGREGATE MATCH WILL HAVE SHOT THREE MATCHES. This is being done for two reasons: First there are ranges who only have 100 yd ranges who wish to shoot, it will be hard for them to compete for SSOY awards as the requirement will be to shoot a minimun of 15 matches and also the TWO RANGE REQUIREMENT IS STILL IN EFFECT so as to eliminate home range advantage. SECOND a THREE HUNDRED YARD TARGET has been developed and will be used by those ranges wishing to and with capabilities to do so. That means that 200 & 300 yd matches can be had or any combination of the three yardages also. ALL YARDAGES ARE ASSIGNED THIER POINT VALUES AND ALL CAN BE INCLUDED IN THE 15 MATCH REQUIREMENT FOR SSOY.
SCORE SHOOTER OF THE YEAR will be contested in all classes, the individual with the highest POINT TOTAL for FIFTEEN matches will be recognized as SSOY for their class.
If more than FIFTEEN matches are fired by anyone their FIFTEEN highest will be TOTALED.
This method in effect eliminates any one match having more value than another as far as SSOY is concerned, anyone recognized as SSOY should be the best shooter that year and not the best shooter in a single match.
SHOOTERS WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR SSOY MUST COMPETE AT MORE THAN ONE RANGE, NOT JUST THEIR HOME RANGE.
NEW RECORDS WILL BE ASSIGNED A POINT VALUE ALSO TO BE ADDED TO THE FIFTEEN MATCH TOTAL
SHOOTERS COMPETING FOR 4-GUN SSOY WILL SHOOT A MINIMUN OF NINE MATCHES WITHIN EACH CLASS. A MATCH IS DEFINED AS ANY SINGLE YARDAGE SCORE, I.E. ANYONE SHOOTING IN A 100 AND 200 YD MATCH HAS SHOT THREE MATCHES, 100, 200 AND GRAND AGG. POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FOR EACH MATCH WITH THE HIGHEST POINTS TOTAL BEING THE WINNER OR SSOY.
